Fully
aware of the poverty experienced by most Africans Moya
Afrika recognises the rich heritage of the many tribes
and nations making up Africa. This heritage lies in the people themselves,
amongst the ancient cultures and traditions that have survived for hundreds
of years.
Under
immense threat of extinction from the continued invasion into the continent,
modernisation and erosion of these cultures, the
Moya program
strives to create a market promoting a variety of ethnic traditional
skills in traditional items as well as as identifying the cultures in
contemporary products.
Intentionally
by Moya, but as a by-product
to consumers the stories and spirit of Africa will take up position
in homes and palaces as a reminder to the world of the humanity of Africa.
Often
perceived as aggressive, the people of Africa are instead loving and
generous, innocent and trusting, largely satisfied to continue the work
set by their ancestors.
The
Moya task is a continued
celebration of Africa and its people, embracing the knowledge, skills,
people, art and lives generally overlooked.
